Strength Training for the Singer and Performing Artist
As a performer, I completely understand that your body has a JOB to do. And every choice we make can in some way affect our instrument. That’s why I have chosen to specialize in training the performer.
Your fitness should support your career rather than work against it. The last thing you need is excessive fatigue or injury.
My goal is to help you build a system that conditions and primes you for the physical demands of your work so that you can stay energized, injury-free, and strong on stage and off. I create an exercise program that is tailored to your history, your needs, and the demands you face on and off stage
Strength training that works for the performer’s life.
Who do you work with? I work with performers of all domains and at all stages of their careers: conservatory students, freelance artists, professors, and many with dual careers. My clients are often very busy and constantly on the move, and need someone who can support them week to week.
Do I need strength training experience? No! I have many clients who are brand new to training and have never set foot in a gym setting before. That’s the beauty of individualized coaching- we build goals and a program based on where you are now and where you want to go.
Can I train while traveling? Yes! My clients are often in a different city every month! With weekly check-ins, we make sure you have the tools you need regardless of where you’re located.
What does training look like? All of your workouts are uploaded to an app called Everfit every Sunday night. They contain videos, notes, and detailed instructions so you can train on your own time throughout the week. Clients send me videos for form feedback and various training questions all through the app! We do a weekly check-in every week to make sure you have what you need for the upcoming week, and schedule calls as needed! The goal is to make fitness fun, productive, and practical.
Train with someone who gets it.
I’ve been around musicians my entire life. I’ve seen the mental, emotional, financial, and physical stress the industry can place on us. I’ve also witnessed injuries and overexertion, lack of body awareness, and chronic fatigue, and I thought there must be a better way.
I want musicians to feel supported and empowered by their bodies. And I’ve trained enough of them to know it’s possible.
I’ve worked with professional musicians around the world who have experienced the massive transformation that intentional training can bring. More energy, more confidence, more strength, less pain, less fatigue- it really is possible.

“Exercise had already been a big part of my life for years, but I saw that I’d begun to plateau, and I wanted to feel strong and invest in myself leading up to my debut at the Metropolitan Opera. Now that I’ve worked with Matilda for about 5 months, I can happily say that I feel stronger than ever! I’m so grateful to have someone in my corner who I can trust to give me a challenging and functional program while also being there whenever I need to check in. Matilda is incredibly reliable and encouraging, as well as super receptive to questions (in my case, a LOT of questions). I was hesitant at first to commit to a fully remote coaching style, but now I can’t imagine doing it any other way, especially as a freelance singer who’s rarely home for longer than a week at a time!”
